MythBrowse · AI-first browser

The browser where AI is the home screen.

MythBrowse is a desktop browser built on the Servo engine. No Chromium, all Rust. Chat is where you start, the address bar takes prompts as well as URLs, and an agent can work through background tabs while you keep browsing.

What it does

Browse less. Get more done.

Everything you expect from a modern browser, rebuilt around an assistant that can actually use it.

In the open build

Public source on GitHub, early preview (v0.4.2).

AI chat is the home screen

New tab opens a conversation, not a grid of shortcuts. Ask, plan, then browse.

Address bar is a prompt

Type a URL to go somewhere, or type a request to get something done. One field, both jobs.

Any model, or none in the cloud

Connect any model API you choose, or run fully local with Ollama.

Site-compat layer

Servo is still maturing. Where a site breaks, a compatibility layer steps in to keep it usable.

Myth beside the page

A panel next to the page summarizes it, explains, translates or rewrites a selection, and answers questions about it. Sites you mark Don't share with Myth stay out of it.

Tab sleeping

Idle tabs go to sleep to give memory and battery back to what you're actually doing.

In development builds

Being built and tested privately (v0.4.3). Not in a public release yet.

An agent in background tabs

Hand off a task and the AI drives the browser in background tabs. Track every run in the Tasks panel while you keep working.

Built-in shield

Ad and tracker blocking ships in the browser. No extension required.

End-to-end encrypted sync

Your browsing data syncs between devices encrypted end to end.

Read, print, browse privately

A PDF viewer, reader view, printing and private windows.

Translate, write, find again

AI translation and writing help, history you can search by meaning, and tab groups.

Engine

No Chromium. All Rust.

Almost every browser today is a reskin of the same engine. MythBrowse is built on Servo, the open-source browser engine written in Rust, with the rest of the browser written in Rust as well. That is a harder road (and the reason the site-compat layer exists), but it means one more genuinely independent engine on the desktop, and a codebase we can reason about end to end. An upgrade to Servo 0.7 is in progress.

Frameless by design

A custom titlebar gives the page more room and the tabs a quieter frame.

Time-of-day theme

The interface shifts gently from morning to night, so it feels right whenever you open it.

Questions

The honest answers.

Can I use it today?
Only as an early preview. The open build's source is public on GitHub, and you can build it yourself; packaged preview builds are not published yet. The Myth agent and sync are still in private development builds. Waitlist members get packaged builds first as they become usable.
Which platforms?
Windows first. Windows 10 and 11 (x64) are the only platforms built and tested today. A Linux build is on the roadmap.
Which AI models does it use?
Yours. Connect any model API with your own key, or point it at a local Ollama instance to keep inference on your machine.
Will every site work?
Not yet. Servo is still maturing and some sites break. The site-compat layer exists to keep those sites usable, and compatibility is a core part of the work ahead.
Is it open source?
Partly. The open build (browser, interface, site-compat layer and basic AI chat) is open source under MPL-2.0. The Myth agent and the cloud backend are proprietary. Servo itself is an independent open-source project.
Waitlist

Try MythBrowse early.

Early builds go to waitlist members first. Expect rough edges, and a direct line to the person building it.
